
Muka Pito Tie also known as Whiri Pito is an umbilical cord tie which is a very strong fibre, hand woven and made from native harakeke (NZ Flax). Muka is a natural alternative to the plastic cord clamps. They are soft on pēpi’s skin, easy to use and renowned for its astringent, antibacterial and fast healing properties.

Made in Aotearoa. Our Muka Pito Tie is approximately 20cm in length, and also comes with a canvas pouch with Care Instructions. We encourage you to use your own pounamu/ taonga if you like.
*Before purchasing, we advise talking with your Midwife and whānau first about the use of Muka Tie for your pēpi. We also encourage Māmā’s and whānau to access Hapū Wānanga in your local area whom can educate and help you to make your own Muka Tie for your pēpi. However we are here for those who do not have access to these resources.
